THE ORIGINAL. THE BEST. THE MACEBELL.

I've noticed in the videos that the macebell never touches the shoulders. What do you guys do to prevent the macebell from touching your shoulders?

A lot of that is balance. When the bell passes your feet and is heading back on the way up, you give it a little tug. The tug should be controlled and almost like a tricep pull-down on a pulley machine. Hope this helps!

I sometimes turn my body a little bit working the technique. Is that good or is it bad form?

A little turn, not at all. Especially with a larger Macebell (e.g., the 15kg)

Lift first. Than allow the mb to fall and follow a circle pattern behind you. Catch the mb in front on a lower level. Raise it and start all over again.

I send my arms as far back as I can (without losing my balance). This means my upper arms are about even with my ears, maybe a bit further back, but you get the idea. And I don't let the mace pull my forearms too far down. When I watch myself, I see that my upper arms and forearms form pretty much a 90-degree angle.

Also, try standing up as straight as you can (here's an idea from our ballet friends: pretend a string is coming from the top of your head and is pulling you up) - it'll help you tighten your abs. Well, it does mine, anyway.

There's nothing, and I mean NOTHING, like a good Macebell workout. Done properly, it'll make you feel like a king. And that's neither jest, jive, nor lie.

It's helpful to watch a lot of macebell videos. Jake's DVD gives a good tutorial to get you swinging quickly, and you can also learn a lot from watching all the guys on YouTube. If you post a video of yourself, I imagine Jake or some of the CMMs would be willing to give you a quick critique, too.
