I'm 5'6" and it seems just fine. You could always choke up a bit to compensate for the length. I don't think it should be problem for you at the regular length. You will love this thing.

When did you starting swinging the Macebell?

About Me:
I'm a purple belt in BJJ and have been training since the mid 90's. I help my wife with her Jiu Jitsu school (www.LetsRollJiuJitsu.com) and also work as a software engineer. Hopefully, oneday, I won't have to slave away on a computer.
What is your favorite aspect of Macebell Strength Training?
Intensity built with simplicity. It's exercises work a wide range of muscles and gives existing exercises (like lunges) a new level of difficulty. Kinda makes ya feel like some sort of medieval warrior training for battle too.

Slowly but surely

It's coming along. I can now do three sets of 15 with the 10kg. I alternate days between using the 5kg and 10kg. I had hit a plateau for awhile and just couldn't do anything right with either bell. I seem to be getting back on track and I'm now adding in tornados curls.

Nobody at my school wants even try these things. Some of the big guys may try with the 5, but, they stay away from the 10. It like it has "PAIN" spelled all over it.

Finally, I'm getting this thing down.

I'm finally able incorporate the 10kg into my workout. Although I can only manage around 8-12 swings per set, I can now manage to work this into my Jiu Jitsu workout too. In between sparring sessions I pick it up and start swinging. So I'm at least swinging the 10kg everyday and doing an actual workout as follows.

Mon-Wed-Fri, each arm: 50 clockwise, 50 counter-clockwise single arm with the 5kg.
Tues-Thurs-Sat, double arm: 3 sets of 8-12 with the 10kg, along with other exercises I learned from… Continue

Better form less reps?

My form is getter noticeably better, however, I can't do as many as before. I was managing a whopping ten swings with the 10kg last week. I gave it break over the weekend and this week I'm able to only manage 7 or 8. My form is much better than before, but, I'm not sure why I can't do as many.

The 5kg feels so light now...

I've had the 10kg for a couple of weeks now. Although I can only manage about 10 swings before putting it down I feel alot better with it. My confidence has gone up tenfold and I don't feel like I'm tweaking anything. I'm still taking a step here and there to get back underneath it as well as bending my knees quite a bit, but, I'm getting there. What's nice is that the 5 feels so light now. Working with the 5 seems so be (dare I say) easy. Swinging the 10 has pushed me over a plateau of some sor… Continue

Got the 10kg......Holy Sh!

So I got this thing yesterday and after getting it out of the box I wasn't sure if I even wanted to try using it. I had forgotten what it felt like. With jeans, t-shirt, shoes, and a sweatshirt on I barely weigh 136 so I thought I really need to be a bigger guy for this. However, I watched the guys on the Indian wrestling dvd using 40+kg ones and also remembered Jake telling me that I could do it too. So outside I went.

I warmed up a bit with the 5 and then grabbed the 10. I held it behind my b… Continue
