I may have to your simplified version a try... maybe commandeer my wifes swiss ball and try for one of those 70#s I keep reading about. ;-)

My design is by far the most primitive....I just filled the damn basketball up with mud...Put a wooden pole on it and nailed it in...It weighs about 15 kgs..not much of a looker but works really well...

I made mine by filling the rubber bladder from a #5 soccerball (it was toast so my kids didn't miss it), with quikcrete. I chose not to remove the rubber after completion. The handle is a 52" piece of fence pipe, the type used for the upper rail on…

These are awesome. Plus I've got a bunch of lead lying around that I'm not doing anything about; do you have a link to how to make something like this? Like maybe more specifics on the materials.

Here are a pair of macebells you can make out of rigid pipe and fill with lead.

The whey protein container is a good idea. I thought of this too late, after I'd used a kid's sandbox bucket but that worked out okay. Just looks a little silly until the bucket falls off. If you have a few extra bucks, I've found that rigid electri…

I made one yesterday using quickcrete poured into a Syntha-6 protein container. It turned out WAY too heavy for a starter mace (around 20lbs. which seems too heavy to start with for me anyway, and I am a pretty big guy). So I am making another one t…

I made mine with a 1 1/4x6 ft iron pipe and a 15.23lb bowling ball , First I took a 1inch spade bit to the thumb hole going about half way down and after finding out that a 1 inch pipe has a 1 1/4 inch dia I took the threaded end of the pipe and stu…

Hi Neal, I'm 55 and new here also. I did a double-take when I read your post. It sounded very similar to my own situation . . . even down to clubbells and kettlebells . . . I've got a couple of home-made 15 lb clubs and three KBs. I would be extrem…

Hi Neal!,It sounds to me like you already have enough serious tools to formulate an effective training program to loose weight.Use your 25lb kettlebell to do 2 hand (and later, one hand) swings for sets lasting 1 min or longer. Work on increase the s…

When did you starting swinging the Macebell?
August 1, 2009
About Me:
I am a 54 year old special education teacher (ED) who weighs 260 pounds which is about 90 pounds to much. I love to golf, ride my bicycle, and train to stay strong. I am hoping to lose weight with macebell training as I feel it really gets the metabolism going.

I have had 3 knee surgeries and hope macebell trtaining will not be an issue with this. I am recently divorced and looking for things to keep myself occupied.
What is your favorite aspect of Macebell Strength Training?
Getting stronger or maintaining where I am at. I also have arthritis and hope that macebell training will help to fight this awful disease. I know I am not a kid but feel the macebell routines might help. I also have a 25 pound kettlebell and 2 15 pound clubbells.

Thanks for letting mr join.

question for Kevin Wilkse

Firsr of all thank you for allowing me to be a member. I know that I might be a little to old for this Macebell stuff but I guess I will be the old guy.

My question is for Kevin. I have watched most if not all of your videos on you tube. Is it my imagination or have you dropped some pounds since you moved to California. My reason for asking this is after 3 knee surgeries and being 80 to 100 pound to heavy is macebell training a good way to lose weight.

Thank you!

Neal
